- Test Environment: Patient is seated in a soundproof booth and fitted with headphones or tested via free-field speakers.
- Testing Method: Our audiologist may use:
- Descending Method: “10 dB down, 5 dB up”
- Ascending Method: “10 dB up, 5 dB down”
- Speech Stimuli: Spondaic Words (e.g., “hotdog”, “sunset”) are used.
- For SDT (Speech Detection Threshold): Patient responds through hand signal, verbal cue, or button press when they hear speech.
- For SRT (Speech Recognition Threshold): Patient is asked to repeat the words they hear.
